15:00 Sandown
This Mares (Listed National Hunt Flat Race) will hopefully be a stepping stone to bigger and better awards in the future for this crop. For a lot of these runners, it'll be a step up from what they have shown so far. However, a couple of them have already proven to be quite promising and one in particular I do think will be a really good chasing mare in the future.
It's a bit boring to choose the favourite but it's really hard to see past Rainyday Woman. Paul Nicholls’ mare looks visually impressive and has won a listed bumper race at Huntingdon in similar conditions. I genuinely think the stiff finish at Sandown will play to her strengths as she looks likely to want further in time.
She has been raised 4lbs for that success and the Kim Bailey trained Flirtatious Girl (who was 2nd to Rainyday Woman last time out) will have a weight swing in her favour so may well get closer but I cannot see the form being reversed.
At a bigger price Finest View for Alan King caught my eye first time out at Lingfield on the all-weather when producing an effortless and comfortable win. Sure to have come on for that run she’ll have to find more at this level but looks very interesting at a big price.
