TV TIPS (SATURDAY)

13:50 Uttoxeter Handicap debutant who enlists the services of Champion Jockey Richard Johnson BROUGHTONS RHYTHM looks the horse to back. Given a decent weight for his debut he has shown glimpses of promise in his previous starts and although Graasten demands upmost respect the favourite looks worth taking on. BROUGHTONS RHYTHM (WIN)

14:05 Kempton Champion trainer Paul Nicholls had a quiet festival but he should get back to winning ways with CLIC WORK. Seeking to rack up a three-timer after wins at Doncaster and Taunton I don’t feel this is a massive step up in opposition and another small runner field should be his for the taking. The most likely one to follow him home is Days Of Heaven who’s unbeaten at this venue. CLIC WORK (WIN)

14:25 Uttoxeter American is very very worthy of his spot as favourite and in all honesty looks the most likely winner but I just can’t ignore the price on offer for ROCK THE KASBAH. A very good hurdler who’s got more big race experience than the favourite. Phillip Hobbs has this race in mind as his major target and chose to opt out of Cheltenham in order to come here. With odds around 6/1 an each way bet to nothing looks silly to ignore. ROCK THE KASBAH (E/W)

14:40 Kempton Golden Spear flies over from the Irish yard of Tony Martin. A decent performer on the flat he undoubtedly has to be respected but I just can’t side with the favourite in a race this competitive. Nicky Henderson has a decent Cheltenham and his consistent runner DIVINE SPEAR demands the upmost respect. Placing in two competitive handicaps in his last two outings there’s nothing to suggest he won’t go close again especially with conditions set to suit. I also like the chances of TOP TUG who was a very good flat horse with Sir Michael Stoute. Now he resides with Alan King who knows what it takes to train a winner of big handicaps. The horse found his only hurdles victory at this venue and from a decent weight has the ability to do well. DIVINE SPEAR (E/W) TOP TUG (E/W)

15:00 Uttoxeter Another very competitive handicap that we’re treated to. Ordo Ab Chao is a horse that looks very well treated and is going to come on leaps and bounds for his return to action at Ascot. He’s likely to go well but sadly the bookies aren’t taking a chance and his price looks too short to make him a realistic betting proposition. Jockey Noel Fehily had an amazing Cheltenham Festival and his success may continue with his mount DASHING OSCAR. Harry Fry’s handicap debutant has run well in his last four outings and looks set to do so again. SKY KHAN ran a big race at Cheltenham last year but avoided the festival this time around in order for a crack at this less competitive affair. He’s not done all that well in his past three attempts however he seems to pick up around this time of year and with a break he may find more today. DASHING OSCAR (E/W) SKY KHAN (E/W)

15:15 Kempton I may seem cruel to say this but I only consider this a three runner race. Romain De Senam is a likely improver and deserves his spot as favourite however isn’t a notorious victor and has to be taken on. Ballyboley looks generously weighted and ultra consistent however has had a tough season and may not be as fresh as some of his rivals. This has therefore lead me to the conclusion that MAX WARD is the one to be with. He’s done well recently and earned a well deserved rest. Now returning to action with blinkers applied and if that can garner further improvement has to have a chance. MAX WARD (WIN)

15:35 Uttoxeter The big race of the day sees the marathon that is The Midlands Grand National. COGRY has been very inconsistent but this slower ground should help with his jumping and finishing third in this race last year off a higher mark shows he’s capable of going close. In recent years Venetia Williams has been very quiet at the Cheltenham Festival but that’s often meant she has other targets in mind and that could be true here with her runner EMPERORS CHOICE. A fifth in The Eider Chase shows he’ll stay and this soft ground should play into his hands. Of the remaining runners previous winners of the race Firebird Flyer and Goulanes are obvious dangers as is Eider winner Mysteree COGRY (E/W) EMPERORS CHOICE (E/W)
