TV TIPS (SATURDAY)

15:35 Sandown – Solario Stakes (Group 3)

Oh So Sharp, Raven’s Pass and Kingman to name but a few of the previous winners of this group race that marks its 40th anniversary this Saturday.

Wether or not we’ll see future stars go on to carve such illustrious careers as the aformentioned trio only time will tell but never the less this years renewal looks as hotly competitive as ever.

There may only be six runners scheduled to enter the stalls but with eleven wins between them they’ve already proven themselves affective on the racecourse.

Of the sextet two remain unbeaten in the form of Too Darn Hot and Arthur Kitt. The Gosden trained runner Too Darn Hot is likely to go off favourite as he returns to the scene of his one and only outing. A winner over a mile that day connections make the decision to drop down to seven which doesn’t look a bad idea considering how well he demolished his opponents. A seven length winner that day gave glimpses of the horses potential but just how much can we take from that five runner maiden? All four of his rivals that day are yet to race again so being able to judge the form of his one and only run becomes very tricky. He’s entered into some top class races and although the talk of the yard is that he’s got the possibility to be something special I’d rather side with a horse who has a proven record.

The other undefeated runner Arthur Kitt has done nothing wrong in both his starts but as we evaluate his first foray on to the racecourse in which he defeated eight other runners it doesn’t look as promising as it may seem at first glance. Of his eight rivals that day they’ve gone on to race a total of 21 times with only one victory between them. Now obviously he’s progressed since that run to go on and win the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and looks a very obvious player here.

The horse that gets the nod however wasn’t victorious in his last run, finishing third of twelve in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes however the form of Confiding’s maiden success looks very strong with 7 of the top 8 finishers going on to find the winners enclosure themselves. His subsequent run looks like the best form on offer and with Oisin Murphy opting to ride him as opposed to Watan another positive in his favour it’s far from ludicrous to feel that Martyn Meade’s runner can return to winning ways.
