15:35 Musselburgh – Queens Cup Stakes Musselburgh hosts an eight race card today, headlined by the Queens Cup Stakes (A Heritage Handicap) at 15:35. First run in 2017 and run over a staying trip of 1m5f, the race is open to horses aged four and above. Recent trends are hard to go by though the two previous winners of this race both returned at double figure odds and both were drawn below stall ten. Trainer Archie Watson saddled last season’s winner and looks to have a very good chance this time with the unexposed, Ulster. Only raced a handful of times so far, this will be the four year olds first start on grass, despite that he could be well handicapped off this mark and a big run looks on the cards. Mark Johnston has four runners representing him, splitting them looks a fair old task in itself although Austrian School would be a most deserving winning given his profile. Often well fancied in these types of races, his front running style leaves him vulnerable at the end and agonisingly, he was nailed late in the day on seven separate occasions last season. Making Miracles is closely matched with his stable companion and can go well fresh, his no nonsense style of racing demands respect and his chance is clear. My Reward hails from a yard firing, he usually finds a race or two throughout the season and would have chances if in the mood, however, along with Mirsaale you often get the feeling that the pair have their own ideas about the game. Tor has something to prove in this sort of company, this sort of ground suits though and he is two from two at this course. Sir Chauvelin must defy a career high mark to land this, his recent spin at Doncaster will have blown away the cobwebs although at seven, perhaps this mark will prove too much. Pipes Of Peace and Artmaron have bits and pieces to recommend on though proud Scotsman, Mark Johnston will be keen to land such a prestigious pot and his Austrian School is taken to get the fractions right this time and finally get his head back in front.
