This marathon 1m6f trip at one of Scotland’s premier racecourse is the scene for today’s ITV showpiece race.

This Class 2 handicap is to play host to a handful of recent victors including the likes of Nate The Great and Cardano. Both have decent chances based on their recent efforts but neither get my vote.

Yorkshire based Scotsman Mark Johnston saddles a quintet of runners and the majority of his five strong charge hold serious claims.

Themaxwecan looks to be on an upward curve and with the noticeable booking of jockey Ben Curtis he certainly catches the eye.

Trumpet Man racked up a hat-trick or victories but they were over a longer trip and this drop in distance isn’t certain to suit.

The Johnstone runner I like most is King’s Advice. The seven year old is now on a very attractive handicap mark and his last three victories all came over this trip. If he’s fit for his return he shouldn’t be far away.
