14:00 Epsom A tricky start to the action on Derby Day with a tight handicap over 1m2f and the answer may lie in the Derby form itself. The John Gosden trained Tartini has fallen out of contention with defeats to Best Solution and Cracksman, who both now take their chance in the Group 1 showpiece later in the card, but this race represents a massive lowering of the sights for the Giant’s Causeway colt. Three of the rivals in behind the horse of those occasions have since come out and won to frank the form of those runs despite the defeats and so he may yet prove to be a class above some of these and gets the confident nod. Charlie Fellowes is an up and coming trainer and saddles the main danger to the selection in the form of the progressive Hajaj, who looks the most likely to take advantage should the selection fail to fire. 14:35 Epsom John Gosden trains the likely warm favourite Laugh Aloud for this Group 3 fillies race over 1m and there is no doubting it has a fantastic chance of landing this prize. A comfortable win last time out at Goodwood suggests she can play a big part here, but the lack of a run at this quirky course is a he concern. The Andrew Balding trained Eldereth on the other hand already has a course win to her name and the form of her second to the Aiden O’Brien trained Somehow last time out has taken a huge boost since that run. She looks poised for another massive run here with in-form jockey Oisin Murphy in the saddle and she gets the nod to spring an upset. Of the remainder, last year’s winner Epsom Icon looks to further live up to her name, but carries much more weight this time around with the penalty, even although she is still unbeaten on the track. 15:10 Epsom The Richard Hannon trained Oh This Is Us, has been in the form of his life this season. He landed a listed contest and a highly competitive handicap either side of a creditable second in another handicap. The horse also showed up well in two runs in Meydan earlier in the campaign before being narrowly denied close home in the Lincoln at Doncaster. The four-year-old bay colt deserves his crack at Group 3 level today and he gets the nod to finally achieve a deserved victory in this grade. Sovereign Debt is the clear danger after two convincing successes over some of today’s rivals, but he may struggle to concede weight to some of these younger rivals today. OH THIS IS US (WIN)

15:45 Epsom The ultra competitive Epsom Dash ran over the 5f minimum trip is a race where the old adage of ‘Horses for courses’ certainly applies. A difficult puzzle to crack this one so it is wise to stick with at least one tried and tested campaigner in the field and that horse is the Paul Midgely trained Desert Law. The horse was runner up in the race back in 2012, but has also won the race back in 2015 and is now only 4lb higher at the weights here today. The 9-year-old looked to have turned the clock back when scoring in commanding fashion at Musselburgh on his seasonal reappearance last time out and he can definitely take a hand here at a massive each way price. Of the younger contenders the Charlie Hills trained A Momentofmadness looks to be a typically progressive type that could well be up to the task of becoming the third 4-year-old to win the race in the last six renewals. He won his seasonal debut at Kempton Park before following home the talented Vibrant Cords at Goodwood last time out. He still looks like there is more to come form him and has the services of title chasing Sylvestre De Sousa so he also gets an each way nod. Dangers are a plenty in the race with the likes of El Astronaute, Kimberella and the in-form Duke of Firenze all likely to give their running, but a chance is taken on the two each way picks. 16:30 Epsom The 2017 renewal of the Investec Derby rounds off the TV coverage on Saturday, but it promises to be a mouthwatering prospect that will definitely be worth the wait. In one of the most wide-open fields in recent memory with a number of the biggest yards in Europe having a representative in the Epsom classic today. Godolphin come here triple handed with Best Solution, Benbatl and Dubai Thunder, but it is the latter who looks to hold the best chance after winning by half the track in a maiden at Newbury last month. Adam Kirby takes the mount, but the one negative is that the horse has had only one run and no horse has won this race in recent memory coming in here off only the one visit to the racetrack so that would be a big concern. The winning connections of the 2015 Derby hero, Golden Horn, return with an equally talented contender in the shape of unbeaten Frankel colt Cracksman. The horse skipped his previous engagement at Chester to come straight here, so hasn’t ran since he scrapped to a narrow success over the re-opposing Permian from the Mark Johnston on seasonal reappearance. He looked like he needed every yard of that run that day, so that step up to this trip will definitely suit, and that form has since been boosted by that rival coming out and winning the Group 2 Dante Stakes at York next time out, so he will be bang there at the business end, but they may just have a worthy adversary this year in the shape of the Aiden O’Brien trained Cliffs of Moher. The Galileo colt has gone from strength to strength since his debut with two convincing successes. The first was a wide margin victory over stablemate Orderofthegarter, who was originally seen as a Derby contender by connections, and the second was a commanding win in the Dee Listed stakes at Chester last time out. He stayed on well that day and was doing his best work at the finish that day so the extra two furlongs will be right up his alley today. He was the confident pick of Ryan Moore from the six yard runners, so he gets the confident nod to prevail and give his legendary trainer a first winner of the race since 2014.
