A few familiar old faces will be grinding it out in this first round of the stayers championship.
Course and distance winner Wynford will be popular. He will be fit from a recent respectable run over hurdles. He is above his last winning mark however.
This trip will hold no fears for Rukwa. He is a consistent type over hurdles and his latest start on the all weather wasn’t devoid of promise.
Cornerstone Lad is the selection. A few of these have NH form and if there were obstacles in the way this horse would be comfortably be the best and highly likely to be a short price. With ground conditions and a stamina test in his favour, he’s an obvious choice.
CORNERSTONE LAD (WIN)

A mile handicap were quite a few of these runners struggling for a bit of form.
Stately Home at least showed his well being by finishing third last time in a blanket finish. He certainly has a chance especially as he has plenty of soft ground form.
Music Seeker is not getting any younger, but is becoming attractively handicapped. He hasn’t won for a while, but does act on the ground.
A reasonably straightforward selection here is Gainsbourg. He won over course and distance on his seasonal debut last season in a race that has thrown up a few winners since. He is fancied to repeat the dose.
