TUESDAY RACING TIPS

14:05 Newcastle

A low grade novice handicap hurdle over two and a half miles.

Plenty of exposed types here including Fightfortheroses who showed his inconsistency by winning on his penultimate start, then running poorly under the same conditions next time despite only being six pounds higher.

Barrakhov won last time out, but connections seemingly thinking he can improve on that effort by applying cheek pieces this time.

A chance is taken with one of the few unexposed types in the hope there could be some improvement to come. That horse is Johnson’s Blue. He’s had three qualifying runs to gain his basement mark of 90. With a stamina laden pedigree and a proper gallop, it would be no surprise to see a decent show at a nice price.

A competitive if low grade handicap finishes the meeting.

There good be a couple of reasonably well handicapped horses lurking in here.

The eye maybe drawn to the last time out winners, but they’re overlooked on this occasion.

Simple Star hasn’t run much, but he’s been competitive off his current mark, and is bred to be better than a 70 rated horse.

Corey Street is a course and distance winner, and his last run was respectable enough. He hasn’t run for a little while, however the booking of Hollie Doyle is interesting. He could claim a place.

Another eye catching jockey booking is Tom Marquand on Citizen Serg. Despite being beaten by Voltaic (runs here) there’s a feeling that race wasn’t run to suit the selection. If he can get a decent pace to run at, he should grab a place at least.
