TUESDAY RACING TIPS

13:00 Uttoxeter

We're presented with a Mares handicap hurdle over almost two and a half miles where we potentially have sixteen runners heading to post. If all sixteen end up under orders then four places are on offer and an each way angle looks the route to go down.

Doyen Queen is the selection to fill one of those four places. This seven year old mare has been running better than her bare form figures suggest.

In a race that despite the field size lacks strength in depth, she is more than capable of a decent showing off a basement mark of 87.

Other contenders include last time out winner Dorisa Queen who steps up in trip. She is likely to go off favourite but I wouldn’t be totally convinced she is going to repeat her recent performance.

More likely types are handicap debutant Doireann who hasn’t shown much to date but could improve and Fashion Nova, who has finished behind some decent sorts, albeit a long way behind. There was more than a glimmer of ability in her seasonal debut but two wind ops and a tongue tie on soft ground, reservations are obvious.

A two and a half mile, novice handicap chase where useful hurdler Call Me Lord makes his chase debut.

A good quality hurdler, who just failed to bridge the gap into the highest tier of that discipline. There’s no doubt he has the presence to make his mark over the bigger obstacles but it’s difficult to be overly confident with him.

Despite the fact his handicap mark pushes the rest of the field into the long handicap to varying degrees, that can be the difference of one or two mistakes and that gap is immediately bridged.

It’s also worth bearing in mind it’s his seasonal debut and at the age of nine it could be argued it's getting a tad late in the day for such a venture.

I’m going to be more than happy to take on Call Me Lord because I think there’s at least a couple of potential improvers in this line up.

Come On Teddy has some cracking hurdles form, particularly when beating On The Blind Side. That being said Gustavian is going to be the selection. This six year old has always looked a chaser in the making and his performances over hurdles indicated that he certainly has an engine. Despite the fact he’s running off a two pound higher mark than he should be I don’t that will be an issue as I don’t think that rating will be anywhere near his ceiling.
