Not many runners here, but a competitive little heat none the less. Restricted to mares over three miles.
Une De La Seniere has some decent form over hurdles, but she was well exposed last time at Wincanton last time and connections have wasted no time in going down the chasing route. She has decent claims but a combination of top weight and a trip that might stretch her, she is passed over here.
Alpha Carinae also boasts some hurdles form, but it has to be said she was very disappointing on chase debut at Kempton. It’s also apparent she has some breathing issues, with two wind ops to her name and sporting a tongue tie, she would be a risky selection.
Schiaparannie is clearly the value (at the time of writing 11/2) and she is the selection. Not many miles on the clock for this nine year old mare but she certainly doesn’t have a bad strike rate, winning five of her twenty starts. Despite being beaten a fair way on chase debut, it wasn’t devoid of promise in what was quite a decent little contest. Her pedigree suggests this trip should suit and possibly open up a little improvement. With her jockey also claiming a useful five pounds which can only enhance her chance.

Low grade sprinting at Gosforth Park is usually not the most sensible option for trying to make profit however there’s one horse running in this six furlong handicap that’s threatening to come good and that’s One Last Hug.
He obviously comes with some caveats, decent break, strong pace to aim at and some luck in running. His rider Amie Waugh can get a tune out of him, and hopefully she can galvanize him into a late surge and at least snatch a place.
Paddy Power is becoming well handicapped these days and could also figure, along with Fircombe Hall who seems to be running into form and has a decent draw.
