Flat racing at this time of year isn’t generally my cup of tea, however it's perhaps a good time of year to follow Charlie Appleby 2 year old’s. Appleby is in fabulous form with 6 winners from just 18 runners over the past fortnight for a 33% strike rate. His only runner today lines up in the third race on the card. WIRKO claimed second on debut to the John Gosden trained Derby entrant Beau Nash who is also owned by Godolphin. He tried to make all that day but the winner had more speed come the end. Whilst the best of this youngster will be seen over further in time he is more than capable of dismissing his maiden tag. If you weren't convinced already then the icing on the cake is the 31% strike rate over the last five years that Appleby has with 2 year old’s on the all-weather. WIRKO written by Steve Marriott
