TONTO TO TOPPLE CARTMEL RIVALS

Cartmel is a unique course so it is always worth looking at runners that have proven themselves here before, however the ground is likely to be too fast for two time course and distance winner Ardera Cross while King Alfoso returns from a nine month break and usually comes on for first run. Leapaway disappointed over fences last time out but has won over course and distance over hurdles on good-to-firm ground so would have to be considered if a return to Cartmel also brings about a return to form, however for our selection we are opting for Tonto's Spirit who has won four from seven over course and distance and has slipped down the weights to an attractive mark of just 106 having won off 132 in October 2019. A decent third on the flat at Catterick last month should put him spot on for this so I am hopeful that he can add to his already impressive record here.
