THUNDERBIRD VILLAIN TO STRIKE AT NEWBURY

Modestus was slightly disappointing on handicap debut in first time cheek pieces.

He has a nice pedigree and could yet turn out to be ok, but maybe that may come as a gelding.

Beowulf has won his last two. He may still be ahead of the handicapper, but this is a deeper race so it’s probably worth taking him on this time.

A chance is taken with The Hood. He’s the type of horse trainer Alan King does well with. Brought along steadily with handicaps in mind. He was mildly disappointing on handicap debut, but he was keen that day and hoping the application of a hood may be the answer.
