THE IRISH INSIDER

15:05 Curragh

This Group 3 contest sees the reappearance of last season’s Tattersalls Gold Cup winner Helvic Dream who looks like the class act here and he might be able to give weight away to all his rivals for Noel Meade and Chris Hayes. Meade is doubly represented by recent winner Layfayette who took a conditions race at Naas last month.

High Definition had a bitterly disappointing classic campaign. The Galileo colt ran well in the Dante but was beaten a long way on both the Derby and St Leger. Reports from Ballydoyle have been quite positive and he’s an interesting runner. Of the others, Leo De Fury shouldn’t be underestimated. He’s a dual course and distance winner for the in-form Jessica Harrington team and should go close.

The shrewd Shelia Lavery may hold the key here with Belle Image, who was fourth in the 1000 Guineas last season and was also a close fifth behind Mother Earth in Group 1 company in France. She’s joint-top rated here and will be difficult to beat. The other joint-top rated is Thunder Moon and although he was a short-priced beaten favourite on his return at Dundalk, he should have the fitness edge over some of his rivals. Johnny Murtagh’s recent recruit Lustown Baba is a very consistent sort and shouldn’t be ruled out of grabbing a place at a nice price.
