Todays three selections all come up in quick succession of which the first of the trio sees us take in a six furlong handicap at Fairyhouse.

The race seems pretty open with four horses seemingly vying for favouritism. Have A Nice Day, Falcao, Rattling Jewel and Greek Canyon. All of them are currently priced up between 9/2 and 6/1. Of the four I’d say that Have A Nice Day and Rattling Jewel are the most likely runners to put in the best efforts. This being said however my selection actually lies away from the main protagonists and sits at the bottom of the race card.

Deedsnotwords has been a mix bag of form recently and it goes without saying that the horse needs to improve on this seasons efforts to take a hand in this. The horse also needs to overcome being out of the handicap which is far from advantageous. However the horse has been tried over so many different trips this season, of which the last three races were less than ideal. The five year old has only ever won over six furlongs or shorter and returns to his favoured trip with better conditions than experienced when last seen over todays distance. Despite only being five years old it’s won off a mark as high as 88 and now sitting at mark of 66 has to give it a decent chance in what seems a relatively average race.

The next two picks both come over obstacles where we side with a brotherly duo that are making waves in the national hunt world. The Skelton brothers look set to strike again in a novice chase with Swansea Mile. The horse put in an improved performance to finish a close third last time out. This looks a weaker contest and is the more than worthy favourite.

The likeliest threat looks set to come in the form of the JP McManus six year old Saint Charles. It’s put in a couple of decent efforts but is likely to find the favourite too good once again here.

It might be worth noting any support for Upsandowns and some market support would be worth taking interest in.

Swansea Mile (WIN)

14:55 Sligo

Back to Ireland for our final tip where we stick with jumping and go for the unbeaten Oh Me Oh My. Joseph O’Brien continues his path into training as he follows his fathers footsteps. The five year old started its jumping career by winning its opening maiden race nicely enough, despite a blunder at the last. I’m hoping the horse learnt a lot for that winning run and is likely to come on leaps and bounds for its effort. The same jockey, Jody McGarvey, takes the ride again and hopefully experience with the horse will also aid it’s chances. It looks by far the likeliest improver in the field and I’m hoping it’ll have too much for its rivals once again.

The obvious danger to the favourite is Petuna who not only won her Maiden Hurdle she went on to win on the flat under Wayne Lordan. The horse is likely to push the favourite all the way and it’s definitely set up to be a two horse race. I’m just hoping the weight advantage will aid the favourite.
