SUNDAY WEEKENDER

15:35 NAAS The fascinating dual for the Irish Champion jockey’s title between Colin Keane and Pat Smullen moves to Naas on Sunday and this listed contest over the 1 mile trip looks like being a direct head to head with both riders having solid chances here. The latter veteran has the mount for his boss Dermot Weld on Making Light and the filly looks to be battle hardened after two wins and two places from six career starts including a narrow runner up at this level two starts back where she beat the selection, but she is yet to win as a 3yo and disappointed last time out in preference is instead for Keane’s mount Elegant Pose. The exciting Elusive Pimpernel filly only narrowly lost her unbeaten record last time out at this level, but there is likely plenty more to come from this unexposed filly and she can resume her progress here and is taken to reverse the form with the aforementioned rival here today and give Colin Keane a further boost in his quest to dethrone the defending champ Smullen. ELEGANT POSE (WIN) – NAP

17:25 GOODWOOD A tricky finale to the Sunday action from Goodwood and the red-hot Roger Charlton yard will likely have high hopes for the lightly raced Casement here today. The 3yo gelding has a win and a place from four starts but will need to step forward on that if he is to take this here today. Preference is instead for Dhalam from the masterful John Gosden yard. The horse made it third time lucky when scrambling to victory on his latest start at Wolverhampton in May and the form of that race is working out really well. He should be able to make further strides here today and gets the nod. Simon Crisford’s twice raced Cliffs of Capri is a last time out winner and has Sylvestre De Sousa booked for the ride so he has to rate as the main danger to the selection. DHALAM (WIN)
