SUNDAY WEEKENDER

16:15 Uttoxeter

Dr Newland has had ten winners from his last twenty runners, nine of which had Sam Twiston-Davies in the saddle, so it would be no surprise to see another big run from Vosne Romanee. He defied a career-high mark in impressive fashion at Stratford earlier this month but carries a further 7lbs penalty for his troubles and coupled with the extra three furlongs he encounters here today I feel could prove vulnerable.

Harry Fry has a good record at Uttoxeter so Voix D’Eau, a twelve-length winner last time out, would have to be considered for a follow-up, however preference is for Imperial Presence who has won his last two and convincingly beat both Newton Geronimo and Voix D’Eau at Stratford when last seen in June. He won’t mind the forecast fast ground but has also won on good-to-soft so will be comfortable if any rain arrives and can take another step forward with victory here today.
