SUNDAY WEEKENDER

15:35 Naas

Tycoon Prince has a win and a placed effort from two prior runs at the course but will need to step up on what he has achieved so far this season, whileDoctor Phoenix won this race last season but hasn’t visited the winners’ enclosure since and is unlikely to be suited by the drying ground so faces a tough challenge if he is to go in again today.

Avenir D’Une Vie is partnered by top jockey Rachel Blackmore who is in fine form and has an excellent strike rate over fences at the course. He is another who would prefer softer conditions but is respected as a prior course and distance winner.

Given all of the above this looks a great opportunity for Cadmium to return to winning ways. He wasn’t disgraced when fourth in the Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Chase (behind Delta Work and Le Richebourg) in December and was a Grade 3 winner prior to that. A decent-enough fourth in a handicap at Leopardstown at the beginning of the month should have blown away any cobwebs so he is taken to emerge victorious for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend.
