SUNDAY WEEKENDER

15:20 Bath

The blistering hilltop setting and tight left-handed turns make Bath a very unique course and as such horses with previous form here is a huge positive. That being said however with a staggering 7 of the 11 runners having course and distance wins to their name it’s harder to narrow the field down.

Perfect Symphony has had a great year with only one of his six outings this term resulting with a finish outside of the first three. The very consistent four year old finished less than two lengths behind reopposing rival Red Alert. With weight more favourable this time around he’s likely to get closer to the favourite today but wether he has enough to win is still up for debate.

Likely favourite after his aforementioned success, Red Alert looks to make it back to back victories here at Bath. A decent looking victory eleven days ago but with 5lbs more to contend with for a horse who’s never claimed consecutive successes makes this a tougher task.

A decent looking performance to finish 4th on the all-weather at Southwell last time out should stand Archimedes in good stead for a return to his beloved Bath. The David Griffiths trained gelding has a 33% strike rate here and as he sits just 1lb higher than his last winning mark and 1lb lower than his highest winning mark he looks set for a big run, especially with the assistance of Fran Berry in the saddle. If he returns to anything like his best he’s worth backing at a more appealing price.
