SUNDAY WEEKENDER

15:40 Goodwood The Mayoral Handicap ran over 2m looks a highly competitive contest and will no doubt be one of the highlights of Goodwood’s Sunday action. The Ian Williams team have been going great guns this term and they may just have the answer to this difficult puzzle with their consistent handicapper London Prize. The horse will strip fit for three runs over the hurdles this term including a win at Sandown back in March and he ran well when last seen on the flat at Newcastle back in February when second to Natural Scenery, so that form looks strong enough to give him a real chance here today, so he gets the nod. The main danger will come from Phillip Hobbs’ Sternrubin who took advantage of a low flat mark to score at Windsor last time and may be up to following up here if the selection fails to fire. LONDON PRIZE (WIN)

16:45 Goodwood Amanda Perrett trained gelding The Warrior has done the team proud this term since scoring on its yard debut at Kempton back in March. Jim Crowley was on board that day and is back on board here today, but while he has ran with credit since, his mark has continued to creep up and up without further success and he may be vulnerable. Henry Candy’s Time to Exceed looks the one who could take full advantage here today. The four-year-old filly won a Doncaster maiden last term and looked every bit as good when scoring on return at Leicester first time out this term. She only just failed to follow up at Windsor last time in tricky conditions and this lightly raced filly should take all the beating again here this afternoon so gets the confident nod. TIME TO EXCEED (WIN) – NAP
