SUNDAY WEEKENDER

15:25 Southwell

A less than inspiring day of racing means we have decided to go for a what will likely be a shorter priced runner than usual and will be following last time out winner Inessa. The five-year-old has only had two runs since switching from the flat to hurdles but has improved for each run, following up a solid second at Newton Abbot with victory at Worcester when last seen. She races for in-form trainer Dr Newland who has had seven winners from his last fifteen runners and is partnered with jockey Sam Twiston-Davies who was in the saddle for five of these seven winners so a big run looks assured and another visit to the winners enclosure beckons.

Turanga Lily is an interesting Gordon Elliot runner with champion jockey Richard Johnson taking over the reins but is a risky proposition given that she has only won on heavy ground so the bigger danger could be Northern Beau who is yet to win over hurdles but has managed a couple of placed efforts and has won a couple of point-to-points so should be staying on at the finish.
