SUNDAY WEEKENDER

14:50 Leopardstown

Dermot Weld has won this race three times in the last ten years and sends Titanium Sky to this race, just six days after finishing sixth of ten in a Group 3 at The Curragh last weekend. She wasn’t disgraced, finishing less than three lengths behind the winner, but for me it looks a tough ask to improve enough to take this less than a week after her last run.

Hamariyna finished four lengths behind Titanium Sky when third on debut but improved to win next time out, beating Fancy Feat who franked the form with victory last week. She steps back a furlong and this is a much tougher race but the step forward she took from her first to second run was impressive so she cannot be discounted.

That said, preference is for Trethias who beat current Oaks favourite Pink Dogwood over todays’ trip last summer. Despite not winning since she has competed with credit in each of her subsequent three races, at Listed and Group 3 level over differing trips. She won second time up last season so can be expected to come on for the run at Navan at the end of April and the return to a mile also looks a positive so I’m expecting a big run and victory here today.
