16:25 Curragh
Hermosa beat a number of todays’ rivals when winning the English 1000 Guineas earlier in the month, defying odds of 14/1 and battling well to win by a length. As that was her first run of the season it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see her improve further and for that reason alone she warrants respect, although it is worth noting that she has raced at The Curragh three times without success.
Qabala finished just over a length back in third but is also entitled to improve as that was her first run over a mile. She has so far only raced at Newmarket so it will be interesting to see how she handles the trip across the sea and a new course.
With question marks over both the aforementioned two it is Just Wonderful who gets my vote. She brings winning course and distance form to the table, has won twice overall at the course and should be approaching peak race fitness following her sixth in the English 1000 Guineas (her first run since finishing fourth in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf in November). She looked in need of the run but ran on towards the finish so i’m expecting an improved performance with that under her belt.
