15:35 Musselburgh We start today, as with our second race, up in Scotland at Musselburgh. I hold my hands up and admit that it doesn’t take a genius to find a red hot favourite to back but I just think Michael Appelby’s Danzeno is bound to go close and rightly so judging by its current price. I see the threats that both course and distance winner Red Baron and three year old Canny Kool possess but this race seems to have a gulf in class. Danzeno may not have won this season but to finish fifth and sixth in two big Group 1 sprints is by far the best form on offer. The horse is already a group race winner and the drop down to a conditions race at Musselburgh is a vast drop in opposition and should be the telling factor. Danzeno (WIN)
17:15 Musselburgh Staying up near the east coast of Scotland as we take in the penultimate race on the card at Musselburgh. Contrary to the first selection this race looks far more open and competitive and with nine runners you’ll be glad to see an each way pick is the order of the day here. The current favourite, Gaelic Wizard won well at Hamilton last time out but this seven year old has a poor record at Musselburgh and never tends to follow up on a victory and therefore has to be opposed. From one seven year old to another and our selection lies with the multiple course and distance winning Saxonette. The horse relishes this course and barely runs a bad race here. With Jordan Vaughan’s three pound claim taken off the horses back it’s mark lies just one pound higher than it’s previous win and at a current price of 8/1 and three places being paid it should have a great to chance of placing at least. The two I fear the most are two fellow course and distance winners Irish Girls Spirit and Busy Bimbo who could give the selection a couple of things to think about. Saxonette (E/W if 9/2+)
17:35 Curragh For the third and final selection we head over to The Curragh in Ireland where our selection races in a two mile listed race. Toe The Line is one of only two course and distance winners and won this race last year. The ground was firmer that day and it looks set to be on the soft side today. She hasn’t shown her best form recently but still would have a good chance if it weren’t for the favourite it would be highly fancied. Unfortunately Silwana is entered and the fellow course and distance winner looks a class act at just four years old. The softer conditions should be a positive help and looks to go very very well. Of the remainder; Chapter Seven was entered into the Ebor and then pulled out later but connections feel the horse has a decent level of ability and could be the dark horse. Silwana (WIN)
