14:00 Leopardstown We start today’s three selections with a hurdles race over in Ireland. The current short priced favourite represents very strong connections as the Mullins trained, Walsh ridden and Gigginstown owned Potters Point heads the market. It’s somewhat rare to see Ruby Walsh sit on top wearing the recognisable silks of Irish powerhouse owners Gigginstown. A third placed finish in a field of twenty two looks credible form despite going off as favourite. It looks the most likely winner but there looks to be a few likely improvers in this field and it may be worthwhile opting for a horse with a bit of value. With eight runners set to go to post I hope the each way value lies in the form of a five year old out of Flemensfirth by the name of Jett. Despite it yet to finish with its head in front, it’s bumper form reads well and connections seem to feel taking on obstacles will definitely improve the horse. With the horses breeding being what it is today’s softer conditions should also be an advantage and at around 10/1 it looks a good bet if there’s still three places on offer. Jett (E/W)

14:50 Fontwell We don’t have to wait too long for our second selection where we head to Fontwell for the second race on the card. As with our first selection it falls in a race where the favourite seems to have a great chance. The ultra consistent Thinger Licht is a more than worthy favourite and looks to be the one to beat. However as with our first selection our value seeking is on show again in this race. One of the older horses in the race Itoldyou has been slightly out of sorts in its most recent performances but if you look through its form at this venue it seems second to none. With four starts here it’s won three times and finished second once. Clearly the horse loves it around Fontwell and as it now sits at a much more workable handicap mark it could be primed for a big run today. Itoldyou (E/W)

16:50 Fontwell We stay at Fontwell for our third and final selection where we plump for the Dan Skelton trained Herons Heir. A win on its handicap debut last time out saw it raised seven pounds but today’s race doesn’t seem very strong in depth and it should be able to overcome the hike in weights. Of the remaining runners I feel its biggest rivals come in the shape of Wells De Lune and Darwins Theory. The Charlie Longsden yard have hit some decent form and top jockey Richard Johnson is booked for the ride. If today’s new equipment (headgear) can bring about an improvement it could go close but I fear it doesn’t have enough to rattle the favourite. Darwins Theory looks to have a better chance than its double figure price suggests. The Fiona Shaw trained runner seems to always put its best foot forward and a place wouldn’t be out of the question. Herons Heir (WIN)
