SMART SELECTION FOR CESAREWITCH SUCCESS

15:35 Newmarket

The biggest field in UK flat racing is set to lineup in the 2020 renewal of this years marathon showpiece handicap. Seen by some as the flat equivalent of the Grand National it’s very much a lottery however the Willie Mullins runner Great White Shark aims to make it three consecutive wins in this race after claiming victory in the 2018 and 2019 renewals. It’d be foolish to dismiss the six year old who claimed a hurdles success recently however in a race with so many runners you have to look for one at a big price with plenty of value.

Just like with Great White Shark other rivals also hail from predominantly National Hunt based yards such as Leoncavallo and Not So Sleepy who also hold strong claims.

That being said however I’m opting for a runner who comes from the yard of David Simcock. SMART CHAMPION may not have won in five starts this season however has produced some very good performances in big handicaps at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood. Both of those runs came in large fields over 2m4f. That ability over those extra couple of furlongs could come in handy with the ground being so testing. At 40/1 he’s worth taking a chance on and should be staying on when others are paddling. SMART CHAMPION
