SATURDAY WEEKENDER

12:50 Lingfield

Away from the live action we turn our attention to Lingfield. The first selection runs in the 12:50, a one mile, two furlong Claiming race.

Rakaan is the pick here. Winner of his last start of he looks to have a suitable opportunity here to make it back to back wins, lightly raced at this trip and with very shrewd connections it will not be a surprise to see him attract market support as when landing a gamble last time over course and distance. He clearly acts on the surface and should be in the shake-up at the business end of the race.

Brave decision can go well for trainer Suzy Smith and jockey Luke Morris. Running well at this track both starts last year he should be able to make the frame,

Classic Colori was a winner of his only start here and could have more to offer although a placed finish looks on the cards.

Rakaan (WIN)

13:25 Lingfield

The second selection runs in the 13:25. A handicap ran over a mile.

The David Lanigan trained Leonard Thomas can finally get his head in front after several placed efforts. Very lightly raced he has been ultra-consistent on artificial surfaces. The drop back to a mile is not an obvious move but he has put in two good efforts at the track and if making his move earlier than on previous runs he should be able to get his head in front here.

Birdie FFrench could go well back on the Polytrack. Winner of his only all-weather start at Kempton  the drop in class could be the key to finding some improvement and it would be no surprise should he finish in the money here.

Jack of Diamonds has run well on his last two starts, finishing second last time and a winner on his previous attempt in a similar race over course and distance. He looks the one to beat, but with the selection open to more improvement Leonard Thomas gets the vote.

Leonard Thomas (WIN)

14:00 Lingfield

Our final selection runs in the 14:00. A Class 2 Handicap ran over one mile four furlongs.

Castilo Del Diablo has been well backed overnight, and with the assistance of Adam Kirby will surely be popular with the public, Running on second last time over course and distance he didn’t have the clearest passage but ran on to close at the finish.

The selection here is the Charlie Appleby trained Personal Opinion. Beaten favourite at Wolverhampton last trime he looked to be held in the home straight and this drop in trip should see him in a better light as when winning his penultimate start. The stable have an excellent record here and with the jockey claiming a useful 3lbs he should make the frame.

Viewpoint was disappointing on his last start, he races of 2lb less here and that should make him more competitive this time round.
