16:35 Wolverhampton
We head to Wolverhampton for the Saturday weekender. The first selection runs in the 16:35. A class 4 staying handicap.
The Jeremy Noseda trained Wakea heads the betting here and with the assistance of Ryan Moore he looks sure to make his reappearance a successful one. Progressive last season, he comes here off the back of a defeat when sent off favourite in a similar contest at Doncaster last time. With the yard in great form this year he looks to gain his second win here. The extra distance should be fine and is the first selection of the afternoons weekender.
Sharp sword is the obvious danger. Winner of his only start he looks to step up in trip and make it 2-2 at the track. The runner up from that race has twice ran well since, he should run well here but will struggle to beat the favourite.
Multiple course winner precision strike could go well at big odds an could sneak a place here
Wakea (WIN)
17:10 Wolverhampton
The second selection runs in the penultimate race on the card and the selection here will again be ridden by Ryan Moore.
This time he teams up with Charlie Appleby on the once raced debut winner Forest Maiden. There was plenty to like about that performance and the filly looks to have plenty of improvement in her. The stable have had a great winter and it’s easy to envisage that continuing through the spring.
Dark war could cause an upset from a handy draw. If allowed to dictate the pace James Given’s charge could last out and should certainly be considered each way.
Red tycoon dos nothing wrong on stable debut and could again run into a place.
Forest Maiden (WIN)
17:45 Wolverhampton
Last up on the card is the one mile half furlong maiden.
Lining up here for Richard Fahey is La Dorotea. Ridden by George Challoner she comes here on her fourth attempt looking to breaking her maiden tag. The second of her three career starts was ran over course and distance and a repeat of that effort should see her bang there at the finish. She has shown the ability on all starts to date finishing in the frame on each occasion. With such a consistent profile and a willing attitude she is the final selection of the day.
Anarchiste comes here with a similar profile to the selection. Just failing her on her last visit when stepped up to this trip. Certainly sure to be thereabouts she poses a clear threat to the selection.
Deira miracle is the unknown factor and could easily cause a surprise here. It shouldn’t take much to figure here and she is another who could easily be good-enough on debut.
La Dorotea (WIN)
