SATURDAY WEEKENDER

15:55 Bath

Meetings Man has been raised 4lbs following a two length win over course and distance last month but has won off higher marks previously and has a 60% win record over thirteen furlongs. This recent win was a big improvement on all previous 2015 runs but most of his opponents arrive here out of form and now he has regained the winning thread he should be able to follow up if arriving in the same mood today.

Guard Of Honour has placed on all three occasions since switching back to the flat from a stint over hurdles and posted his best effort yet on the flat when second by a head at Kempton earlier this month. He will surely have his supporters based on that effort but that was over two miles and his attempts over shorter distances earlier in his career were less than impressive.

Sir Jack Layden has only managed one win and one placed effort in seventeen runs but has dropped down the weights as a result and has contested a couple of Group 2 races in 2013 and 2014, getting within a half length of the winner in one. This will be his first attempt over todays’ trip but looks to be the main danger to the selection.

Berrarhi was a course and distance winner last month and has followed up with two placed efforts since, although on his last outing on turf he was over three lengths behind the winner off his revised mark and has been raised a further 1lb by the handicapper so will likely be fighting it out for minor honours again today.

Save The Bees notched up a hat-trick of wins including one over course and distance in July and is only 2lbs higher than that last win. He is reunited with jockey David Allan today, who was in the saddle for two of the three aforementioned wins, but will need to bounce back from a disappointing run at York earlier this month.

Dana’s Present attempts todays race distance for the first time but has previously won over nine furlongs and has shaped like the extra furlong would pose no problems. He has won on both good and good-to-soft ground so should be comfortable if the ground either dries out or if there is any rain and has the benefit of being drawn in stall one.

Early favourite Marsh Pride has been given a 5lbs rise for winning at Hamilton earlier this month and has contested a couple of listed and Group races in her short career so far so, although she came up short on both occasions she obviously has some ability. She is passed over today as her best efforts have come with some give in the ground (her recent win was on good-to-soft ground).

Previous course and distance winner Hidden Rebel has won twice and finished second on four occasions from seven runs in 2015. The form of both her wins has worked out well as both runners-up have gone on to win since so she looks likely to give another good account of herself and gain a third career win here today.

Stablemate Alexandrakollontai’s best effort over a mile came last month when she got to within a length of Secret Lightning at odds of 25/1. However, both runs since have been less than inspiring and with six of his seven career wins coming over six furlongs he looks likely to come up short again over eight furlongs.

Hidden Rebel (WIN)
