SATURDAY WEEKENDER

12:35 Lingfield

Bromyard has only managed one win in five but finished second in the other four, behind some useful horses on their day. Trainer D M Simcock has been operating at a 40% win rate over the last two weeks and jockey Jamie Spencer has a 27% win rate when riding for the stable so the lightly raced four year old is the selection in our opening race.

Francos Secret has won two from three over course and distance and ran a decent 3rd when last seen over 10 furlongs here in December. Dropped back to a mile for today’s race, a distance where he has a 41% strike rate for top three finishes, he looks to be the main danger to the selection, although it is worth noting he is 2lbs higher than his best winning mark.

The only other to arrive here with reasonable recent form is Presumido who has win and placed efforts from his last two runs and has a good record both here at Lingfield and over today’s trip, although races today off his highest ever career mark so could prove vulnerable and is most likely to be battling it out for minor money.

Bromyard (WIN)

14:20 Lingfield

Bookmaker is the only one of the fourteen strong line-up to have won last time out, emerging victorious by a head when last seen earlier this month. The third and sixth have managed placed efforts since so the form doesn’t look too bad but he has gone back up 3lbs to a mark of 61 which has proved beyond him in five previous attempts.

Trending just failed to reel in Bookmaker last time out and also has a 3lbs rise to contend with. Today sees a step up to ten furlongs which could just give him the edge between the two but his record here at Lingfield is less than impressive with tempers enthusiasm somewhat.

Runaiocht has a win and two placed efforts from three runs here at Lingfield and has only been raised 1lbs for a close second over course and distance earlier this month. He isn’t the type to have the utmost faith in, having only won once in thirty three attempts, however a run to the same standard as last time would see him in with a chance again here.

A chance is taken on 10 year old Matraash to once again prove effective here having notched up three course and distance wins and an overall record of 55% for at least making the frame. He was an unlucky fifth last time out having met trouble when making his move but the fourth that day was Freud who has since won twice so with a clearer run he should be capable of adding to his record here at Lingfield.

Matraash (E/W if 9/2+)

16:30 Taunton

Kerry Lee has won some big races over the last few weeks and sends Jayo Time here to hopefully continue the winning trend. He was beaten in to second last time out by a winner who notched up a hat-trick but has a 33% win record 66% over fences and with three wins and two placed efforts from seven since joining the stable the seven year old has proved to be the model of consistency. He is on a career high mark but is only up 2lbs for the close second last time out and with the current form of the stable he has to be the choice here.

Ut Majeur Aulmes was beaten a neck by Quite By Chance when last seen, who went on to win again just a few days ago, so has to be considered. However he has a habit of finding one too good, having recorded six second or third placed finishes from his last ten runs and may have to settle for a supporting role again today.

Another likely to mount a challenge is theVenetia Williams trained Cash And Go who has a great record over two miles with five wins and three placed efforts from twelve. His last couple of wins have come on much better ground conditions than he will experience today but he does have winning form on soft and heavy ground in his early career and therefore cannot be discounted.
