ROMANTIC'S TIME TO STRIKE

14:30 Yarmouth

Eve Lodge is the favourite for this race and will probably win it. She did not have the greatest of races when down the field in the Albany at Royal Ascot but she takes a drop down in trip and class for this race. Moreover, she has quite a favourable draw. She could do with some cut in the ground but I doubt that will massively hinder her. I’d be very surprised to see her get beat and the market seems to agree, so it now becomes a matter of looking for who might chase her home.

Ye Gud Thing posted a career best when scoring at this track 12 days ago and she is not exactly out of the running in this race. It’s evident she likes the track and she retains the headgear that seems to be doing her a world of good. On the ratings, she has more claims than anyone to chase home Eve Lodge. However, she does not have a good record over 5 furlongs and the ground could be slightly questionable. Additionally, she’s ran quite a few times this year and I think that could go against her.

I attested that Romantic Time was one to watch in her last race at Yarmouth, were she finished 3rd over the same distance, also on good-to-firm ground. Her breeding doesn’t suggest that she could win over 5 furlongs, but if the pace collapses then she’ll definitely stay on, just like her last race. She was quite green during that race and probably could have ran better. She claims 5 lbs off her aforementioned rivals and Marco Ghiani retains the ride on her. I’m surprised at her price as I think she can definitely chase home Eve Lodge.
