REPEAT PERFORMANCE EXPECTED IN BUNBURY

15:50 Newmarket

Motakhayyel has a 2 wins from 3 runs record at this course including a win in this race last year off a 4lb lower mark. His only defeat on this track came last time out when beaten by Glorious Journey who runs in the July Cup later today. That run was in a Group Three and represents decent form in this race. Ridden by Frankie Dettori today he has top weight but rates a great Each Way bet at double figure prices.

There are several unexposed horses further down the weights, Ametist has won his last 4 and is highly progressive. He finished very well here last month, he looked ready for a mile there but will be suited by the pace of this race. He looks like he could improve into more than a handicapper.

Perotto won the Brittania handicap at Royal Ascot last time out, he lost ground at the start there but that suited him as the leaders went too fast. That race was over 1M but he had previously won on his only start at this trip at Goodwood when ridden by todays pilot Will Buick. He runs under a penalty here but is 5lb well in on his future mark. He will cope with any rain unlike some others here and ranks a major contender.

Boardman is another who will not mind any rain. The form of his Chester win earlier in the year has been well advertised with the exploits of the second. He was midfield in the Brittania at Royal Ascot but was drawn on the wrong side there.

Three times in the last 5 years the winner has come from stall 14, that stall is occupied by Fundamental. He is 6lb well in here following his good run at Royal Ascot when 5th to Creative Force who is fancied for the July Cup today. He won’t want rain and is not partnered by Dettori as he was at Ascot due to his low weight today.

Richard Fahey has won this 3 times in 10 years and runs three here, the best of them maybe Gabriel The Wire who came out on top in a tight finish at York last month.

If enough rain falls several here could be disadvantaged. One that wont is Perotto who is versatile ground wise and is well in here following his Royal Ascot win. He is unexposed at this trip and has more improvement in him. Motakhayyel boasts strong handicap form including in this race and should be backed each way.
