RACE PREVIEWS & TIPS (WEDNESDAY)

16:00 Thirsk Mango Chutney arrives with the best recent form and has taken prize money home on four from five occasions when visiting Thirsk so its not difficult to see why he’ll likely head the market here. Despite this he is yet to record a single victory from eleven attempts in this class and is racing off a career high mark today so i’m happy to take him on. Tanawar only just got the better of Kirkham here last time out and both look closely matched again while The Name’s Paver has previously won over course and distance but was well held by Mango Chutney when they last met so i’m opting for Hijran who is unbeaten in two at Thirsk, is 2lbs below his last winning mark and races for a trainer with a 23% winning strike rate and level stakes profit of almost £100 to a £1 stake in the last twelve months at the course. Hijran (E/W)

19:30 Bath Brian Meehan has won four from fourteen in the last twelve months at Bath and sends just one runner in a bid to continue his impressive strike rate here. Ivegotthepower is proven over course and distance and was an impressive winner at Goodwood when last seen, setting the pace before winning a decent battle to win by a head with the rest of the field over seven lengths behind. He’s up 6lbs for that but looks capable of further improvement so gets the vote here. Pattie has a 6lbs penalty to carry for victory last time out while Pillar Of Society is up 7lbs and has only won on soft ground so the biggest threat looks to be Fujaira Bridge for the ever-dangerous team of Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni. Ivegotthepower (WIN) – NAP
