20:05 Kempton There’s a fair bit of action throughout the afternoon but we stick around for the evenings all-weather racing from Kempton. Of the twelve runners set to go to post only three of them have had four or less career starts. The remainder have had plenty of chances to put in a decent performance but most are yet to do so, that’s mightily off putting. Favourite Narjes hopes to go one better than his penultimate start at Wolverhampton and the application of blinkers may eek out the improvement connections feel he needs. A disappointing ninth last time however was a huge step backwards and it’s hard to judge what sort of a performance we’ll get tonight. Another lightly raced runner is the Roger Varian trained Tobrave. It’s worth noting that he’s been gelded since his last run so that can change a horse markedly. The only downside however is that without a run since October fitness may not be on his side. Know The Truth put in a decent effort the last time he tackled the all-weather and deserves respect but his level of consistency is questionable. The horse worth a shot has never finished worse than fifth in his four race career and he put in a decent run last time out. He may be a maiden but so are the majority if these runners and Mudallel looks a good each way bet. MUDALLEL (E/W)
20:15 Yarmouth We have to wait a while for our bet of the day as it falls in the final contest at Yarmouth. Some northern powerhouse trainers in the form of Kevin Ryan and David O’Meara send their runners all the way down from Yorkshire. I doubt they’d be sending them on this long trip to to East coast if they didn’t have a decent chance and as such it looks like Summerghand might be the one to be on. Kevin Ryan’s Bapak Asmara could be the “dark horse” but I’m siding with the O’Meara trained runner. The lightly raced three year old looks to have the most potential after just four runs and when Andrea Atzeni takes the reigns you have to take notice. Atzeni gets many big rides for big trainers so the fact he’s sticking around until gone 8pm for this mount also brings an extra bit of confidence. Upavon could be a danger but really needs the rain to stay away to have any realistic chance of winning. SUMMERGHAND (WIN) – NAP
