16:50 Doncaster Sumbal has twice won on soft ground and only failed by a neck in a Group 3 on heavy ground two years ago, although hasn’t raced since last October and has a mixed record when returning from a break. Mirage Dancer should appreciate the step back in class following a couple of decent runs at Group level, including when third in the Hampton Court Stakes at Ascot in June. Racing for Sir Michael Stoute, who has an excellent strike rate at the course, the Frankel colt is probably the class act in the field but is yet to win over todays trip and the ground will be a complete unknown. Mount Logan has had to play bridesmaid in recent runs but is a previous winner over course and distance, is a proven winner at this level and has won on ground with some cut. Both trainer and jockey tend to do well at the course and can hopefully strike again here. Mount Logan (WIN) – NAP
17:20 Doncaster Muatadel is unbeaten in two at the course, including one over todays’ trip, and has previously won on soft ground. He has won three of his last five so arrives in top form and was only beaten half a length off today’s mark last time out, in a higher class than today’s race, so should be capable of another victory here. Discreet Hero was a soft ground winner on penultimate run and could make his presence felt again, while Fumbo Jumbo has been performing consistently without getting her nose in front and has been dropped 1lbs since last run. Muatadel (WIN)
