RACE PREVIEWS & TIPS (TUESDAY)

15:50 Brighton Gannicus has posted two wins and two placed efforts from four at Brighton although is yet to score in five over todays’ trip, while Bridge Of Sighs is a previous course and distance winner but that came on good-to-firm ground and all other career wins came on an all-weather surface. Trainer Eve Johnson Houghton tends to do well with her runners here and Becca Campbell has won 50% of all runs over course and distance, although all career victories have come in lower grades and on good ground so she may prove vulnerable here. Deep Challenger arrives in good form but needs to prove he handles turf so instead i’m opting for Roy Rocket who has won six from thirteen at Brighton, has winning form on good-to-soft ground and beat a couple of subsequent winners when winning over course and distance last month. He was eased down in the closing stages so should be able to handle the 6lbs rise and is again partnered with jockey John Egan who has an excellent record both when riding the selection and when riding at Brighton. 17:00 Nottingham Roys Legacy has been holding his form well, winning three and placing in a further five races since the turn of the year. Although he has won on turf his best form has arguably come on an all-weather surface and would probably prefer better conditions so is passed over today. Borough Boy has only won once in twenty four on turf and is yet to even place in nine attempts at the course, while Bonjour Steve also has a poor record at the course and disappointed on return earlier this month. Rainbow Orse has an excellent record at Nottingham, with two of his three career victories coming over course and distance. He is partnered with jockey Jim Crowley who boasts an impressive 30% win strike rate and level stakes profit of +£55.88 in the last twelve months at the course and, having run well fresh in the past and returning to run off his last winning mark his has to be the choice in the finale.
