RACE PREVIEWS & TIPS (TUESDAY)

14:20 Redcar See The Sun seems to have been around for a while but it’s surprising to see he’s just six years old. He’s been contesting top class sprint handicaps for the last few years but this year has been a shadow of his former self. This race is nowhere near the level he’s been in before and a return to anything near to his best will see him go close today. A lot has to be taken on trust that he still retains a good level of ability but at a decent price it’s worth taking the risk. Top Yorkshire based trainers Richard Fahey and David O’Meara send very lively contenders in the form of Geoff Potts and Summerghand who deserve a tonne of respect. At a bigger price Michael Appleby’s Interlink has been very consistent and could go close once again at a decent price so looks a lively danger. SEE THE SUN (E/W)

18:10 Newcastle We take in a race on the artificial surface at Newcastle this evening. The Charlie Wall trained London Master claimed victory when last seen racing on the all-weather when dead heating in a contest at Wolverhampton. A three pound rise in weight seems fair enough but despite winning he wasn’t overly dominant and in this more competitive race the task at hand looks trickier tonight. Trainers Iain Jardine and Karl Burke have their horses running blisteringly well. They send Restive and Champagne Pink into the race respectively and both hold good chances. Restive drops down in class so should find the level of opposition easier and Champagne Pink looks a likely improver after an encouraging 4th last time. That being said Savannah Moon looks worth parting with our cash for. The three year olds trainer Kevin Ryan has had nine winners in the past two weeks and seems to have his yard doing well. This lightly raced youngster has only ever tackled the all-weather once before and that resulted in a very good 2nd here at Newcastle. He clearly acts at the course, won last time out, hails from an in-form stable and is given a decent draw in stall one. These all bode as positives as to why backing this one looks a very good choice. SAVANNAH MOON (WIN) – NAP
