RACE PREVIEWS & TIPS (TUESDAY)

15:05 Exeter Noel Fehily has been in fine form over the last few weeks and coaxed the selection in to a much improved performance with a placed effort at 33/1 when they teamed up at Wincanton last month. He’s yet to break his duck over hurdles but there was enough in his last performance to suggest he is open to further improvement now handicapping and he promises to improve now taking on a new trip and better ground conditions. Eleven year old Baccalaureate is the early favourite and seems to have found a new lease of life, arriving in good form with a victory and a close second in his last two runs, both here at Exeter. Up 4lbs, he is now rated higher than when joining the Frost stable but has won off much higher marks earlier in his career so could still improve further. Of the remainder, Richard Johnson has a very good record at Exeter and as such his mount Straits Of Messina is respected, while Galactic Power has only been raised 3lbs for victory last time out and could be also danger from the foot of the weights. Magical Thomas (E/W if 9/2+) – NAP

16:15 Exeter Emma Lavelle has sent thirteen runners over fences in the last three years at Exeter, returning six winners and two placed efforts. She runs Court By Surprise here whose last victory was over course and distance off a mark of 129. Racing today with similar forecast conditions off a mark of 123, dropping down in class after a couple of lacklustre efforts in Class 2’s, she looks to be a bit of each way value in the race with Tom Scudamore taking over in the saddle, a jockey who has made the frame in five from six rides for the trainer in the last twelve months. Themanfrom Minella and Bindon Mill are other course and distance winners in the field but a 10lbs rise may anchor Bindon Mill and Themanfrom Minella has failed to finish the last twice so the biggest danger looks to be in-form Kap Jazz who arrives here looking to make it a hat-trick of victories following comprehensive victories over shorter trips at Carlisle and Ludlow respectively. Court By Surprise (E/W)
