RACE PREVIEWS & TIPS (THURSDAY)

18:15 Tipperary The combination of jockey Pat Smullen and Eddie Lynam know exactly what to do when it comes to five furlong sprinters. Although this is race is far removed from their top-class fair they’re accustomed to I’m hoping they can still work their magic in maiden company. Rosa Klebb showed a much improved effort when finishing a close third over this evening’s course and distance. Although she is becoming frustrating after so many attempts at the racecourse this looks like a winable race for a filly who seems to just be getting the hang of things. Major competition comes in the form of Mark Halford’s Ice Canyon but a seventh placed finish last time out was disappointing and Comhghairdeas who looked far more convincing on his previous run. An open looking affair with a few horses making their debut but Rosa Klebb can finally find the winning line before her competitors do. ROSA KLEBB (WIN)

21:05 Newbury With top jockey Silvestre De Sousa banging in the winners left right and centre he certainly doesn’t need to stick around for the last at Newbury but it’s telling that he does. Trainer Brian Meehan bagged a winner yesterday (our Racing Post NAP nonetheless) and the pair could grab another with Pack It In. A much more improved effort when finishing third last time out and a return to his last winning mark is another plus. There’s enough to fear with the other horses near the head of the betting but the two that may run well both seem overlooked by the bookies. Silver Dixie (Currently 14/1) and Chelwood Gate (Currently 20/1) seem drastically over priced. The booking of Adam Kirby onboard Silver Dixie is a huge plus especially with the horses former course and distance success and Chelwood Gate will relish the return to turf. I’m hoping these big priced runners only fight for the minor money as De Sousa bags yet another victory. PACK IT IN (WIN)
