RACE PREVIEWS & TIPS (THURSDAY)

15:40 Beverley With one win and one place from two starts over today’s course and distance, Chauvelin looks to have fair claims of improving on that against this lot. Placed the last twice and on a workable mark the obvious concern would be what sort of pace he has to aim at, despite that niggle he hardly has to improve to account for these and as such he gets the nod. Sevilla is probably the most interesting of these and comes from a yard going places, connections will almost certainly find him a race though his defeat last time was hard to swallow. CHAUVELIN (WIN)

16:20 Salisbury A midweek group race is a rarity but this afternoon at Salisbury is exactly what we’ve got on offer. Personally it seems like a race in which three of the field look the most likely victors. Ballet Concerto from Sir Michael Stoute’s yard is bound to go close with Ryan Moore onboard but he’s had a tough season. Tabarrak has enough in his locker to go close but his lack of consistency makes him hard to judge. Hathal is relatively lightly raced and should improve for his two outings this term. A drop down to Group 3 company should also help as this five year old will have enough to get his head in front for the in-form William Haggas stable. HATHAL (WIN) – NAP

19:15 Chepstow Stringybark Creek is due to go up 2lbs at the weekend so one would hope Mick Channon’s charge has been sent here to take advantage. Fairly frustrating and with only one win from seventeen starts he could hardly be described as a good thing, he does however have a great draw to work from. Zavikon and Coronation Cottage warrant respect as recent winners but the pair have plenty enough weight, with that in mind Stringybark Creek is taken to take advantage and make all. STRINGYBARK CREEK (WIN)
