15:30 Ripon There may only be six runners here but a case can be made for most, if not all, of the runners. Top jockey Andrea Atzeni will have been given the choice between top weight Eagle Creek and Fujaira Bridge. He’s opted for the Simon Crisford trained runner but I hope he’s gotten it wrong. With a former course and distance win to his name I’m hoping Fujaira Bridge can claim another victory here at Ripon. Out of the yard of top trainer Roger Varian I’m hoping the horses recent gelding operation went well and will work wonders, as it does with many of Varians charge. Of the remainder you have to respect any horse that Silvestre De Sousa jumps onboard and there’s no exception here with La Casa Tarifa who also returns to the scene of his previous success. FUJAIRA BRIDGE (WIN) – NAP
16:30 Ripon Green Howard may be a veteran of the sport at the age of nine but three placed efforts in his last five runs shows he’s still got it. He continues to slide down the handicap and looks to have enough left in the tank to take a race like this. His trainer Rebecca Bastiman has her horses running well at present and it’s telling that she sends just one runner to Ripon today. Trainer Roger Fell has been doing well and saddles the likely favourite Beadlam but looks to hold a preference for firmer ground so is opposed today. Of the rest Geordie George and Euro Mac could do well at bigger prices. GREEN HOWARD (WIN)
