14:00 Thirsk Mabo looked in desperate need of the experience when making his debut at Doncaster last month, slowly away and green throughout he could only manage fifth but he finished with a fair rattle and the extra furlong here will surely suit. Another Day Of Sun suffered a rough passage when finishing eighth on his debut and is perhaps best forgiven that, with De Sousa booked he looks sure to improve and this is a much easier race. Byron’s Choice looks the most likely newcomer on paper but the Fahey trained Mabo gets the nod. MABO (WIN)

15:30 Thirsk Course and distance winner Meshardal got up late in the day to score at Catterick last time and this looks an ideal opportunity to follow up given the handicapper has only raised him two pounds. Questo is relatively unexposed and his comeback run was a pleasing effort given he may have needed it, proven on the ground and a winner at the trip he looks a danger. Buccaneers Vault would be interesting if the money arrived but Ruth Carr has her yard in good order and Meshardal looks to have a very big chance of following up. MESHARDAL (WIN) – NAP
