RACE PREVIEWS & TIPS (MONDAY)

13:50 LEICESTER

Trainer Gordon Elliot is one of the best in the game and his prowess over in his native Ireland, where he constantly battles it out with Willie Mullins for the Irish Trainers Title is synonymous with jumps racing in recent years. He’s not a stranger to sending horses over here to the UK and it’s not just for the major meetings such as the Cheltenham Festival either. He’s trained many a winner at Perth in Scotland as well as Cartmel. It’s interesting to note however that he’s never sent a horse to race at Leicester. He sends just the one runner over here today and has booked Champion Jockey Richard Johnson to ride High Expectations. The horses recent form leaves little to spark the imagination but many things point to a big run and if primed for today is bound to go close.

Delface looked good when winning 177 days ago and represents the David Pipe yard so deserves respect and at bigger prices the likes of General Ginger and Pokora Du Lys who also come from prestigious stables could put up bold bids.

HIGH EXPECTATIONS (WIN)

15:00 WOLVERHAMPTON - (BET OF THE DAY)

For anyone that is accustomed to winter flat racing they’ll know it’s raced on the various all-weather surfaces at various courses and those that know the all-weather will undoubtedly know of jockey Luke Morris. A maestro on this kind of surface he’s a name you should always look out for in these races. That reasoning is no different today as he looks to ride a horse with a great chance this afternoon. Billyoakes hasn’t claimed victory since December last year but finds himself with a good draw, a much lower weight, in a less competitive race and with Luke Morris doing the steering. Those factors alone should give him a great chance and although there’s a few rivals that will pose their own unique threats Billyoakes is sure to go close.

Waneen and Teepee Time, when finding their best form, will undoubtedly dominate most of these horses and are the ones most likely to fill up the places.
