RACE PREVIEWS & TIPS (FRIDAY)

15:20 Chepstow This looks a wide open class 4 handicap chase at Chepstow and it may pay to side with a value option from an in-form yard. Fergal O’Brien’s yard is in great nick at the moment and Walk On Al has enjoyed an upturn in fortunes since joining the yard. The nine-year-old had a promising debut for the yard when runner up over today’s track and trip and he followed that up with an impressive success in the mud at Ffos Las next time up, but never got a chance to show what he could do off his revised mark after an early fall back at Ffos Las last time out and he should go very close today given a clear round of jumping in conditions he will relish. He holds a number of today’s rivals on that form and so he looks a solid each option in a tricky looking field. The re-opposing Dr Robin ran a cracker to finish runner up last time out in the same race where the selection fell, so Peter Bowen’s runner will be looking to go one better this time around. But he did previously lose out to the selection before that so has some work on to reverse that form if they both get a clear round today. The main danger may come from Nigel Twiston Davies runner Brownville. The horse has been the model of consistency this season with a continual stream of solid efforts. He scored at Uttoxeter early on this term and ran a cracker back at that venue last time out, so expect him to be involved in the finish, but a 4lb rise makes life difficult. WALK ON AL (E/W)

19:00 Dundalk This competitive looking handicap over the mile at Dundalk and John Feane’s Six Silver Lane could be the answer to this conundrum. The nine-year-old isn’t getting any younger, but bounced back to form with a promising run over 1m2f earlier this month and it is interesting that the stable now turn to the experienced Kevin Manning to do the steering from the saddle. The veteran has won 10 races and is back over his optimum trip and he looks an irresistible bet at a decent each way price. Paul Martin’s Easy Boy rates as his main danger. The horse romped home over course and distance off a mark of 45 and was highly unlucky in running not to follow up off 7lb higher, so he will likely be bang there at the finish under the experienced Pat Smullen. Henry De Bromhead lines up an unusual flat runner with the 13-race maiden Windsorlot. The horse was a close up third on his last run when strongly supported in the market, so interesting to see how he goes today, especially if the money comes again. A 5lb rise for that last effort makes life much tougher and Six Silver line still looks the solid each way option. SIX SILVER LINE (E/W) – NAP
