15:45 Newbury The feature race of the day at Newbury is the Bathwick Tyres Stakes ran over the minimum trip and it looks a fascinating contest for up and coming 2yo speedsters. William Jarvis’ Mrs Gallagher could not have been more impressive in winning two of her three starts so far with her only defeat coming in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot. She made up for that poor run with a gutsy win at Nottingham last time out and this level now seems like the most natural next progression for the talented filly who has posted some nice speed figures already. The booking of Champion jockey elect Sylvestre De Sousa suggests the stable rate her chances of a big run this afternoon and she gets the nod to take her record to three wins from four runs with the security of a likely nice each way price. William Haggas trained duo, One Minute & Validator, are very closely matched on what they have achieved in terms of ratings to date and so they would be the most likely to pounce should the selection fail to fire. 19:55 Newmarket A class 3 handicap contested over 1m looks the pick of the evening action from Newmarket. The Godolphin juggernaut continues to roll on and the Saeed Bin Suroor trained Dowayla looks to have found a good opportunity to follow up on her impressive win at Bath last time out. The 6lb rise looks fair for the all the way victory last time as she was staying on again at the finish and given she is completely unexposed compared to today’s rivals, she stands a great chance of following up under identical conditions. As a result, Dowayla gets the confident nod to land the spoils. Henry Spiller’s last time out winner Lawmaking has the services of James Doyle booked as he looks to follow up his course and distance success and he rates the main danger to the selection despite being upped in grade and having a rise in the weights for that narrow margin win.
