RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (WEDNESDAY)

19:30 Hamilton Lukoutoldmakezbak has an off-putting record of 0-19 on turf though he has been knocking on the door lately and was agonisingly nailed late in the day here last time. Allowed to race off the same mark today and proven on the ground, he would be a deserving winner and is taken to finally break his turf duck under Kevin Stott. Milan Reef probably bumped into one the last day and is another who will appreciate the rain softened going, quietly progressive, she wont find many better opportunities to add to her tally although her yard have been quiet lately. Al Ozzdi warrants respect as a last time out winner, he has twice flopped on ground with juice in it though and there will be other days. Rebel State is another to consider, his effort at Ayr last time reads well in the context of this however, his last win came on good to firm ground and he has previously shown a liking for Ayr. LUKOUTOLDMAKEZEBAK (WIN)

20:40 Punchestown Although there’s eighteen runners set to go to Post for this National Hunt flat race it looks to be a two horse affair. Of course those that are yet to make their first racecourse appearance could throw up a surprise but it’s hard to see past either Gordon Elliott’s Gun Merchant or the Joseph O’Brien trained Watch Guard. Both have shown decent levels of ability in their few outings to date however I have to side with the latter. Gun Merchant did well to finish second at Tramore last time out however the form of Watch Guard’s third at Kilbeggan looks better and this is what has swung the vote in his favour. He should also handle the conditions and two mile trip better than his nearest rival as well. At a price, for punters looking for each way value, you might have a decent shout with Lough Sewdy who has been consistent in their two career starts. A place certainly wouldn’t be put or the question especially dropping back down to two miles. WATCH GUARD (WIN)
