RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (TUESDAY)

12:15 HEREFORD

Perhaps it’s a tad cruel to class this as a two horse race but on paper that’s pretty much what it looks like with Let The Heirs Walk, who aims for their third win on the trot up against Paul Nicholls CELESTIAL FORCE. The Ditcheat yard are on fire and this five year old has 6lbs less on their back than their market rival. Although it’s as short as even money it’s hard to ignore that all things point towards another Nicholls success.

15:45 HUNTINGDON

GUMBO FLYER ran well to finish second on debut and should have learnt a lot for that run. With the promising Rex Dingle, who’s seen by many as the hottest amateur national hunt rider of the moment, booked for the ride he shouldn’t be far away.

Many see the unrated Emma Lavelle trained Sandinista as the biggest threat but to me it’s Warren Greatrex’s Full Spes who could go well at a price.

16:50 CORK

Although she’s yet to even place in three runs it’s hard not to be intrigued about a Ballydoyle trained three year old making their handicap debut. SATIN AND SILK is obviously beautifully bred and gave her best performance to date when upped in trip from a mile. I’m hoping the Galileo filly will this longer distance in what looks a mediocre looking field.

15:40 CORK

Top weight SHIFTED STRATEGY returned to action from a lengthy layoff to claim an encouraging sixth placed finish at Listowel last month. He’d been off the track for a total of 375 days and still turned in a solid performance. He’s undoubtedly going to strip much fitter and come on for that run here this afternoon. He hails from a yard who’ve turned out a recent winner and considering his only turf success came over a mile on soft ground he’s got conditions to suit as well. A solid each way chance at around 12/1.

20:15 NEWCASTLE

Went off when well fancied last time out and in all honesty, based on the ride it was given six year old ZEBULON looked to have been “saved” for another day. I’m not 100% certain that this race is the one it’s set to strike but I’d hate for us to miss it when it does. With the bookmakers opening the betting with odds of 15/2 I wouldn’t be shocked to see it go well now the bookies have been a bit generous with his price. Best playing at small stakes each way. written by Rory Paddock
