RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (TUESDAY)

12:55 Catterick Sadly for those punters looking for an Each Way punt the second race at Catterick has been struck by the dreaded 15 runner curse. Fortunately enough we’re going to be brave and opt for a selection on the nose. Readers will undoubtedly proclaim that we’re suffering from a bout of madness tipping a horse that hasn’t tasted success in her last 11 starts and has only finished in the top half on three of those occasions but never the less bottom weight Lady Joanna Vassa looks worth backing. With five starts at this unique course the five year old has placed on four occasions. She clearly relishes this venue and with 4lbs less weight to carry since her last turf success, a liking for softer ground and from a stable on a 29% strike rate in the past two weeks it could be a case that today is her day. The lightly raced Carlton Thomas could improve to get into the mix and Culloden is weighted to go much better as is Silver Starlight. That trio could do better than their prices suggest but a chance is taken with the Richard Guest trained bottom weight. LADY JOANNA VASSA (WIN) – NAP
