17:00 Wolverhampton The opening contest from a six race card at Wolverhampton this evening sees us side with an outsider that looks to run much better than his price may suggest. Irish trainer Karl Thornton doesn’t send many horses over the sea to these shores but when he sends them to Wolverhampton you have to sit up and take notice. With only nine runners here at the Midlands track before it’s worth noting that four have either won or placed and that sort of a strike rate takes some serious doing. As a lesser known trainer his runners often fly under the radar but with top all-weather jockey Luke Morris booked to climb aboard ten year old Seanie he has a serious chance, despite what the bookmakers might lead you to believe. A 4th placed effort here last time out should stand him in good stead and a drop back to six furlongs should also aid his chances as will being given a low draw in stall three. He may not have tasted victory since October 2017 but with now a staggering 21lbs less weight to carry than his last success this ten year old should be able to roll back the years and find his way into the winners enclosure once again. Course and distance winner Tavener poses an obvious threat to our selection as he also has 20lbs less weight on his back since his previous win. Jockey Phil Dennis is riding well of late but the slight negative is that trainer David Griffiths isn’t in the best of form and although he’s sure to be in the mix and a win looks to be arriving soon it may not be this evening. Of the remainder borh Fareeq and Admiral Rooke have each way chances and you couldn’t readily discount the ever consistent Catapult either. SEANIE (WIN) – NAP
15:15 Exeter – Danny Whizzbang (WIN) *NB*
16:45 Exeter – Silent Encore (E/W) *ALTERNATIVE*
