RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (THURSDAY)

20:05 Chelmsford

Eight runners compete in a seven furlong handicap at Chelmsford this evening, where realistically only four have a competitive chance.

Interesting that two horses from the Shadwell ownership remain in training. The Five year old Monaadhil hasn’t ran for almost a year, but showed a decent level of form so far, and if primed to go could run well.

As is the the case with Tahreek, who ended last season with a victory. He is the choice of Shadwells retained jockey Jim Crowley, and trained by Sir Michael Stoute, and he would be the pick of the owners pair.

Jalaad, a nicely bred gelding runs for the Godolphin team. With only three runs so far in his career as a four year old, maybe he hasn’t  been the easiest to train. He hasn’t done much wrong so far though, and with almost certain improvement to come he looks the main danger to the selection Top Mission.

Top Mission is a former inmate of the Godolphin team. He has some very decent back form, and although slightly disappointing last time, he will be happier back on an artificial surface. He is a course and distance winner and expect him to be ridden closer to the pace dropping back a furlong in trip. Trainer Marco Botti has his horses in good form, and with champion jockey elect Oisin Murphy aboard this looks a good opportunity to get back in the winners enclosure.

TOP MISSION  (WIN)

17:00 Hamilton

Top jockey Silvestre De Sousa stays until the last at Hamilton and he has good reason to. Climbing aboard the Les Eyre trained Van Gerwen is a smart move as the six year old should go close this afternoon. A much more convincing run last time out shows he should be ready to strike and with the softer ground sure to suit I can’t see past him running a great race.

Tim Easterby’s Music Society and Richard Fahey’s Boundsy both have significant chances and if ours faulters expect this duo to be on the premises.
